- 1. Description of the profile
Documentation Manager works with the Software Development and Support Coordinator,
the Information System Architect, the Quality and Release Manager (if available), and the
Development Team to ensure the provision of the documentation of delivered products.
- 2. Responsibilities
* Design a full scale documentation plan and manage contribution efforts;
* Collect and organize all necessary resources for providing documentation to all
key target audiences;
* Build, maintain, and sustain the infrastructure to support documentation
production and delivery processes.
- 3. Knowledge and skills
* Elicit needs and formalize requirements for documentation for targeted audiences
and develop strategy, process, and guidelines to produce expected material;
* Schedule and execute plan with the support of PM, SDSC, and development
team in terms of documentation production workload/process, contents requests,
and standards compliance; consolidate the internal documentation efforts;
* Define success metrics, schedule, and milestones for documentation production;
* Tailor collected contents for specific audiences;
* Be the contact point for documentation inquiries related to the project, expressed
internally, by the stakeholders and/or third parties.
- 4. Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years of professional experience with documentation-centric activities;
* Ease and enjoyment of developers and users interaction (in English and French);
* Excellent writing ability in English (e.g. for architecture/process description, user
guides, training material);
* Great time management, self-organised, and methodical;
* Project management skills and charisma;
* Able to follow, apply and teach standards (e.g. PHPDoc, DocBook, UML, DITA);
* Strong experience with documentation, design, and modelling tools;
* Experience using a forge platform, e.g. Redmine, Mantis, Jira, Trac, Bugzilla;
* Taste for reverse-engineering undocumented source code and for understanding
complex software architecture;
* Strong competence in vulgarization.
